Qredo has sponsored international grassroots educational initiative MyFirstBitcoin
As Qredo builds bitcoin infrastructure in partnership with local banks, international education non-profit MyFirstBitcoin is working at a grassroots level to educate Salvadorians about Bitcoin.
Based on this synergy, Qredo will be sponsoring MyFirstBitcoin during March. This will fund the teaching of regular classes on decentralization and self-sovereignty — which give students first-hand experience of bitcoin by sending and receiving small amounts.
The classes, which are free of charge, will eventually be delivered to local businesses and expanded across neighboring countries.
"We are a small group of people in El Salvador with a big mission. Education is the most important thing for Bitcoinization, particularly in El Salvador where locals are still reeling from the legal tender law and desperately need to understand how to use Bitcoin safely to avoid becoming vulnerable to bad actors. By educating at the ground zero level, we can create crystal clear understanding that will echo around the world as bitcoin spreads."
— John Dennehy, Founder at MyFirstBitcoin
"Although El Salvador has become the torchbearer of global bitcoinization, this isn't always reflected in the understanding of Salvadorians. We're proud to be able to help MyFirstBitcoin lead the educational push, and believe it will make a huge difference to financial inclusion as Bitcoinization plays out in El Salvador and beyond."
— Josh Goodbody, Qredo COO

MyFirstBitcoin is a non-profit focused on Bitcoin education in El Salvador. The organization believes that quality, independent education will be the key to success for Bitcoin adoption, and targets students with little to no prior experience to create a comfortable environment where they can take their first steps into the space. The interactive classes include practicing sending and receiving Bitcoin, and have grown from five students in September to more than 600 across the nation. MyFirstBitcoin also hosts monthly meet-ups, creates educational media, and is developing the nation’s first official Bitcoin diploma program in the public school system.
