Junior United States Senator Cynthia Lummis is taking bitcoin to the highest levels at the Senate Banking Committee.

Born on a cattle ranch outside Cheyenne, Wyoming, Lummis is the first woman to represent the state in the Senate. She has said that bitcoin is an "excellent store of value", and sees the cryptocurrency playing a critical role in helping the U.S. "follow an alternative path in the face of mounting debts."

To help educate her fellow Senators on digital currencies, she is planning to launch a Financial Innovation Caucus that will dispel myths like the idea that cryptocurrencies are primarily a money-laundering tool.
