Former judge turned tech lawyer Paul Grewal replaced Brian Brooks as Chief Legal Officer at Coinbase in July 2020.
Grewal is no stranger to gritty cases, and presided over high profile tech cases for six years as a U.S. Magistrate Judge, before leaving the bench in 2016 to join Facebook. He then helped the social media giant navigate the Cambridge Analytica scandal, before following his nose for tech and joining popular cryptocurrency platform Coinbase.
In 2021, Grewal helped Coinbase become the first major U.S. cryptocurrency exchange to go public. Looking ahead, he is now likely to continue helping Coinbase win greater influence for the broader crypto industry in Washington D.C.
